This Tula 308 Win ammo is made in Tula, Russia using berdan-primed steel cases instead of brass cases to help drive the cost down since steel is a much cheaper metal than brass. While not reloadable, for shooters who don't reload the savings are quite an attractive upside. If you like to shoot high volumes of ammo to hone your skills without breaking the bank, then Tula is a great option to consider.
This ammo features a 150 grain full metal jacket projectile that has steel in its jacket so it will attract a magnet. Tula lists this ammo as having a velocity at 10 meters out as 2,625 feet per second and it is berdan-primed, non-reloadable, and non-corrosive.

I run this through my SIG 716i Tread as well as my VEPR 308. Zero issues, zero failures whatsoever... Only way it could work better for me is if I was able to shoot it at indoor ranges. Other than that, I'll take it! (Posted on 10/30/2021)

The fact that the ammo is cheap, even during the chinese flu, shouldn't be what gets your attention on buying this ammo. Originally got it for a Remington 700 in which it works. But tried it on a Springfield Armory M1A SOCOM 16. Casing got literally stuck in the barrel and would not eject, rounds were not cycling properly, too many times the round wouldn't go off, etc. Gun is brand new and ran Aquila (slightly better ammo, just slightly) with no issues ejecting. As for firing, it's typical Aquila ammo and that ammo also has problems firing the bullet. For anyone saying it's your gun, is the same one who thinks the YEET cannon is a good idea for a gun...not to be trusted. Spend more money and get better reliable ammo and not this russian junk. Would not trust my life on this ammo for any of my guns that's for sure. (Posted on 6/8/2021)

I have just finished box 2 of 500 rds. in my M1A Springfield and not 1 miss fire ( tula 150 gr. ) absolutely good ammo to train by. I know several specialty gun smiths ( armors) have told me that all ammo are inspected to meet specs. But if the operating specs. of the fireman and ammo match up yes their will be a miss fire. But before I start pointing fingers at the ammo because its so cheap to buy I would have the firearm specs also meet specifications. (Posted on 3/15/2018)

I was trying to use this as training ammo for a Socom 16. I’ve loaded a total of 220rds in 20rd magazines and had a failure rate of 40%, roughly 8/20 rds would not fire after being hit square on the primer. After reloading the failures about 50% would fire. This ammo performed very well out of my M1A national match with a 42x56 night force scope However, At 400 yds I was only grouping around 1" where my hand loads its about 1/2" so you lose some accuracy but maybe not enough to cry about. Just finished the last of my case of 500 rds. All went well with my M1A Springfield with a Vortex Viper HS-T 6-24x50 scope. At 1500 ft. all rds. fired with no exceptions. 150 gr. did very well. Bought 4 boxes for some range time with my trusty LR308, seventh round had the primer and rear of shell casing blow out my mag, blow back my bolt and scare the you know what out of me. I have a broken shell stuck inside the barrel now, but am hoping the broken shell extractor tools work as advertised.
Gunsmith has yet to inspect rifle, hopefully it's OK.

took 200 rounds to the range and sighted in my ar10(first use of both rifle and ammo). 308 rounds were consistent through out the session hitting

So, I was using this ammo and I was 95 rounds into breaking in the barrel of my new gun. Well, I pull the trigger and bang.....my magazine pops out of my AR-10 as does all the ammo in the mag. The base of the casing with the primer blew apart from the rest of the casing. The resulting pressure in the chamber blew my magazine apart and thankfully I wasn't seriously injured. The other half of the casing is stuck in my gun and I'm leaving it to an armorer to see if he can get it out. STAY AWAY FROM THIS AMMO! THE PRICE PER ROUND IS ATTRACTIVE, BUT I COULD'VE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED BECAUSE I GOT CHEAP. (Posted on 3/9/2017)

You will have hang fires or "no bangs" with this ammo, (wait one minute, barrel pointed down then ejected round) yet this is practice/ target ammo. If you are doping in with this ammo your true fire or go ammo for hunting needs to match the grain. This ammo averages much better cost even with the hang fires. I have fired about 6000 rounds (both 308/223) and have had approx 200 to 300 hang fires. Also keep your weapon clean and oiled or this will add to your hang fires. Tula and Wolf are the same as far as performance, bargain and reliability. (Posted on 5/23/2016)

I have a ptr-91 and this ammo works great for the gun. The violent blowback system of the ptr-91 compliments the metal cased ammo very well. Fired 100 rounds through it at the ranged and did not have one issue with the ammunition at all! The ptr-91, g3 replica models, shoot this ammo surprisingly well, but other types of rifles with different systems might have a more difficult issues ejecting these. Like i said do your research and see if your gun can handle these. Luckily the G3 replicas are a perfect example of a rifle that can. (Posted on 1/18/2016)

I enjoyed this ammo, maybe because of the price only. I will never again but this or any steel rounds again. The price is just not worth it. Twice in a week I had broken rounds in my chamber and the second one being very difficult to get out. This problem is somehing you don't see very often if ever with copper ammo. After I ordered my ammo, I was skeptical about how long it would take to receive it. It showed up less than a week later. I was also worried about quality and performance of steel jackets. These rounds performed way better than expected. I zeroed in my sites at 50m within 15 rounds. After 200 rds not a single misfire. I was firing a Norinco M-14 .308.
I highly recommend the Tula ammo and I will be back to BulkAmmo.com for more.

Steel-cased ammo is designed to function correctly in any firearm designed to chamber it, but I regret that I cannot guarantee flawless performance out of an individual rifle that I have not personally tested myself. I will tell you that some shooters note steel occasionally poses extraction difficulties because the case fails to return to its original dimensions following ignition. On the other hand, many people report that steel works even better than brass in their firearms. If you have any apprehensions, then my best advice is to test a box of steel-cased 308 out before you commit to a whole case.

CIP is Europe’s equivalent of SAAMI, and while Tula doesn’t expressly load to SAAMI specs they certainly operate under the assumption that a vast amount of their ammo is bound for American shooters. My own American-made firearms run Tula’s ammo safely and reliably, and I expect it should treat your weapons just as well.

A: Hi Jonathan. The Tulammo 308 rounds have a bi-metallic jacketing. This will make the bullet magnetic because it has a lead core covered by a steel and zinc or copper jacket.

A: Over time it can cause some wear. Typically small parts such as extractors have a lifespan of 15 or 20k rounds. They can be picked up for very cheap and replaced fairly easily depending upon the weapon. Steel cased ammo is made from a softer steel than your extractor. You are far more likely to ding up a steel case than damage the extractor.

These 150gr. FMJ rounds by Tula in .308 do not come in an ammo can. They come in 25 cardboard boxes of 20 rounds each. These make great target rounds for your .308 rifle.

A: If you want to reload, you should choose ammo with brass cases. This steel cased ammo will be very difficult to properly reload, and the cases will have a much shorter life.
Q: Someone told me that you need to clean the rifle after firing the steel cased ammo before firing brass ammo. Is this true and why?

A: That is not a bad idea. Brass and steel cases expand differently, and the steel cases can allow carbon to build up just a tiny bit in the chamber, while brass cases expand to prevent this from occurring. If brass is fired immediately after steel, the carbon can cause difficulty with extraction because the chamber is effectively tighter than it would be otherwise. However, if only steel cased ammo is used, the consistent manner in which steel behaves during firing should not cause any problems with reliability. Cleaning the chamber between brass and steel ammo does not have to be an exhaustive process; a quick brushing should suffice.
Q: The TulAmmo looks a lot like the "mildly corrosive" ammo that was on the market in the 90s. Does it have the corrosive products or is it like Rem or Win ammo?
