Q: Can a +P round be used safely in a standard Colt 1911a1 .45 from the 1950's with a 5 inch barrel? Thanks, Dennis
Posted On: 10/21/11 By: Dennis
A: That depends. A steady diet of +P might not be the best idea for a 1950s Colt 1911, but using +P for defensive use or occasional practice is not likely to harm anything. Make sure that the recoil spring has been replaced recently and is of the appropriate strength.
