One look at this ammo will reveal its biggest cost-saving feature: steel cases. You save a lot of do-re-mi when you avoid paying for brass cases. You also forfeit the opportunity to handload your empties, because steel cases are impossible to reload unless you have specialized equipment, lots and lots of patience, and at least a couple of screws loose.
This ammo’s bullets are also virtually copper-free. Each 122 grain full metal jacket is outfitted with what we call a bi-metal jacket, which is made of steel with the exception of its copper-washed external surface. The bi-metal jacket won’t significantly increase wear and tear on your barrel, but it will attract a magnet. Make sure your range doesn’t ban magnetic ammo before you invest in Essential Steel!
