Are AK-47s un-American? Not when they’re owned by Americans, they’re not. And if you’d like to exercise your all-American Second Amendment rights – our favorite Amendment rights – then you’ve come to the right place.
This 7.62x39 ammunition is technically un-American, though. It’s made by Sterling, a subsidiary of Turaç in Turkey. Sterling took the tried-and-true Russian-style approach to reducing this ammo’s price tag by loading it with steel cases. In addition to their lower cost than brass, steel cases are easy to pick up off the ground with a magnet and tough enough to stand up to AKs with rough extractors. On the downside, steel cases aren’t reloadable.
This noncorrosive ammunition is loaded with simple 123 grain full metal jacket projectiles. That’s a lead core with a bi-metal jacket, which means the bullet’s outermost layer contains steel. Do not order this 7.62x39 if you intend to fire your AK (or SKS) at a range which prohibits “magnetic” ammo!
