You’re not trying to stir up an earth-shattering ruckus the next few times you take the .22 LR around the track. You’re trying to be quiet, which really means you want the Winchester Super Suppressed ammunition.
We all know that an object produces a sonic boom when its velocity exceeds that of sound. Well, guess what this round’s 45 grain bullet doesn’t produce? That’s right: a sonic boom, because its 1,090 fps muzzle velocity is indisputably lower than 1,125 fps (i.e. the speed of sound). That makes optimal for a suppressor, albeit still effective out of a non-suppressed firearm. Better yet, the muzzle velocity’s not too tepid to dependably cycle a semi-automatic firearm, so you can go ahead and let the AR-22, Mk V, 10/22, G44, or other autoloader rip!
This round’s copper-plated round nose is coated to reduce friction during feeding and fouling during ignition. Its departure won’t coincide with blinding-bright muzzle flash at night, because the propellant behind it is formulated to eliminate that very same phenomenon.
