The Core-Lokt soft point is an excellent bullet. It is by no means obsolete. The Core-Lokt Tipped merely improves on it. It keeps the previous iteration’s mechanically bound together jacket and core. What it adds is a polymer tip, which provides a significantly more consistent meplat than an SP’s exposed core.
The Core-Lokt Tipped bullet’s tip is flat – not pointed. It will not ignite whichever primer it bumps against. It doesn’t do the quarry any favors, though. The bullet’s tip primes it for rapid expansion, which is made all the more effective by its deep-penetrating design. The 0.272 G1 BC bullet achieves decently high energy retention, too. By Remington’s measure, a hit at 200 yards is forceful to the tune of almost 1,100 ft lbs!
