Hornady makes TAP Patrol 5.56x45 ammunition for police officers. They design it to pass the FBI test protocol (which gauges ammo’s effectiveness at defense) with flying colors.* But do you know what Hornady doesn’t do? They don’t prevent civilians from buying it!

This cartridge is loaded with a futuristic projectile: the Copper alloy eXpanding, which gains an extremely potent performance advantage by virtue of being solid copper. The tough bullet exhibits virtually “barrier blind” performance by conserving 95 to 100% of its weight as it pierces heavy clothing, wallboard, and even car doors. High weight retention = high momentum conservation = consistently deep penetration!

The CX would have been a normal solid copper hollow point were it not for its flat polymer tip. It keeps the nose cavity unobstructed by debris (in which state it can deliver full terminal expansion), and helps the CX feed as smoothly as possible.

Hornady’s lead-free primers attend to reliable ignition. Their brand new (yet visibly annealed) brass cases cycle without fail. Their powder is formulated to produce consistent velocity across a wide range temperatures, as well as prevent blinding muzzle flash!

*Hornady specifies that this ammo is designed for pass the FBI test protocol when fired in a rifle with 14.5” to 16.0” barrel.
