Details

This 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge by Winchester features an open tip range projectile. It is not manufactured to quite as exacting tolerances as an open tip match (OTM), although its form-fitting lead core and concentric jacket both grant it greater long-distance accuracy than a simple FMJ could provide.

This round’s 125 grain bullet has a narrow hollow point nose cavity. It is not designed to deliver terminal expansion inside of game, but rather exists because the bullet’s core was injected through it while it was still molten lead. Having hardened in place, the open tip range bullet’s core is highly balanced, and furthermore protected against deformation by hot propellant gasses by the jacket’s enclosed base.

This round offers a 0.365 G1 ballistic coefficient. Its velocity will remain faster than 1,700 fps at 500 yards, hence its flat trajectory and improved resistance to wind deflection. Although an open tip bullet doesn’t expand, this round’s accuracy and powerful downrange energy both equip it well for varmint hunting.

Winchester manufactured and loaded this round’s components right here in America. Expect reliable ignition courtesy of its sensitive Boxer primers, as well as consistent ballistics once its uniform propellant charges have sparked up. This ammo’s new brass cases are also fine for handloading back at home.
