Call it whatever you want: 8mm Mauser, 7.9 Mauser, 7.92x57mm, 8×57, 8x57 IS or 8x57 JS. If you love Germany’s service rifle cartridge for two World Wars running, then you’re always on the lookout for great range loads. We’re happy to say we can help you out in that department!

This round’s bullet is a 196 grain full metal jacket. It has no polymer tip, soft point or any other feature that enables terminal expansion, so it’s not your best friend when you only want to hunt medium game. But the FMJ is steel-free, so it is your best friend if you’re going target shooting at a range which no-nos magnetic ammo. The FMJ’s sleek frontal profile and tapered base enhance its G1 ballistic coefficient to 0.509 (or G7 0.256, since it has a boat tail), so you can reasonably expect each shot’s trajectory to stay supersonic until just beyond 1,100 yards. Not too shabby at all!

Sellier & Bellot loaded this range ammo in the Czech Republic with never-before-fired reloadable brass cases, conventional noncorrosive Boxer primers, and powder that won’t quickly blacken the interior of your favorite 8mm Mauser rifle.
