This is Federal’s Personal Defense Punch series ammunition. It’s a more affordable solution to defense than the same company’s HST ammunition, which is excellent, but which also features a more expensive type of bullet that is designed for encounters civilians are unlikely to find themselves in. The Punch jacketed hollow point doesn’t overcome strong barriers as effectively as the HST JHP, but it is certainly enough firepower to neutralize threats that aren’t armored or shielded by safety glass.

The lightest 9mm Punch JHP weighs 115 grains, which represents supersonic 1,180 fps muzzle velocity out of Federal’s 4” test barrel and approximately 320 ft lbs 25-yard striking energy; more than sufficient to take down a human threat with correct (or close to correct) shot placement.
