Is a 22-250 Rem rifle good for varmint hunting? Depends on whom you ask. Varmint hunters will wish they had additional thumbs so they could give it more thumbs up. The varmints themselves, however, hold it in considerably lower esteem.
We’re willing to bet you’re a varmint hunter (or even a predator hunter, or both). That’s why you may just want to plan a vacation to Chernobyl. You’ll need the extra radiation if you’re to mutate enough thumbs to accurately review this Hornady Superformance ammunition!
This cartridge’s special Hodgdon propellant jacks up its muzzle velocity without adding recoil, chamber pressure, temperature sensitivity. For context, Hornady Varmint Express 22-250 50gr muzzle velocity is 3,800 fps. This round’s MV is 4,000 fps, which really gives its bullet the extra energy it needs to fly flat, ignore wind, and strike with deadly vigor.
The V-MAX is two things: aerodynamic, and violent. Its polymer tip and AMP jacket keep it stabilized and trained on its target (0.242 G1 BC). Its tip’s long tail slides down a shaft in its swaged lead core’s nose cavity on impact, ultimately forcing the V-MAX to burst apart and fling shrapnel. If you like seeing critters backflip when you shoot ‘em, then you’ll say “Wow, neat!” when you see the V-MAX in action.
