Details
This 308 Win cartridge is from Federal’s Gold Medal line of ammunition, and as such features components which have satisfied the Minnesotan manufacturer’s strictest standards for quality. This round’s Gold Medal match primer delivers flawless ignition, its Federal brass casing has a remarkably uniform wall thickness, and its propellant is formulated to provide reliable chamber pressure and muzzle velocity under all conditions.
This cartridge’s most exciting component, however, is its Berger Juggernaut OTM projectile. The bullet’s core was poured in through the aperture in its jacket’s tip while still molten, and is accordingly extremely accurate. Further complementing this bullet’s accuracy is its boat tail design which heightens its ballistic coefficient to give it superior resistance to wind drift, a laser-like trajectory, and its ability to maintain a greater part of its velocity downrange. There’s little wonder why this bullet is the one you’re likeliest to find at Precision Rifle Series events.

Q: Can this round be used for hunting or only competition events
Posted On: 9/12/2025 By: Brandon VerBerg
A: Hi Brandon! The OTM bullet is not designed to undergo terminal expansion, and its thin jacket means it is less capable of deep penetration than a dedicated hunting bullet. It *could* take down a deer, although it is a poor choice for taking game larger than varmints. Its real talent is accuracy, hence its suitability for serious long-range target shooting and competition.
