Details

The 450 Bushmaster is designed to give one-shot kill power to a semi-automatic rifle, and Hornady has been working with the hard-hitting caliber more or less since its inception. That means you can place your confidence in this load from the Nebraskan manufacturer’s Custom line of ammunition. It offers all the quality of a carefully crafted handload, and features a reloadable select brass casing, propellant that consistently ignites to create a 2,200 fps muzzle velocity, and a sensitive Boxer primer.

This round features Hornady’s 250 grain FTX projectile. It is an accurate bullet thanks to its secant ogive profile, concentric jacket, and pointed Flex Tip. The FTX’s polymer tip works to initiate massive expansion as it rapidly wedges within its core upon impact. The bullet creates a wide and deep wound channel, and exhibits superior weight retention while doing so thanks to the InterLock ring which locks its one-piece high antimony lead core and heavy jacket together. A well-placed 250 grain FTX is certain to bring down even the most rugged of American beasts.

A: Hello Gabe, thanks for your question. You have asked a good one! Both the 450 Bushmaster Black and the 450 Bushmaster Custom from Hornady use the same projectile and have similar ballistic coefficients. The difference in their inspection process. As both rounds are factory produced, the Black is a high-quality factory round and focuses on reliability in all guns. The Custom, however, goes a little beyond your normal factory round, and they are hand inspected to ensure the highest levels of quality control. Essentially, Custom by Hornady, as they put it, is having the advantage of hand-loaded accuracy in a factory load.
