Until we hear back from the production studio that we sent our ideas to, we’re content to hunt with CCI’s MeatEater edition 22 WMR ammunition. This cartridge sends its 40 grain bullet out of the barrel at 1,875 fps, enabling it to slap into a target with 155 ft lbs of energy at 100 yards. That ought to do it. As a jacketed hollow point, the bullet does a better job of piercing thin hide before proceeding to expand dramatically. Even if you’re shooting empty cans that you have no intention of cooking over a campfire, a JHP delivers.
CCI’s a great player in the rimfire world, and their Maxi-Mag label is a long-standing favorite among smallbore hunters. This round’s non-corrosive primer and clean burning propellant both light up reliably and will cycle a semi-auto correctly, and its precision brass shell casing promotes even smoother performance.
