Details

Sellier & Bellot’s XRG Defense series ammunition features solid copper hollow point bullets. While these are commonly used for hunting on protected lands, SCHPs are exceedingly effective for personal protection as well!

A monolithic bullet quite naturally contains no toxic lead. The SCHP creates minimal barrel fouling because of this, but copper’s lower density also makes this bullet a lightweight for the 40 S&W. You’ll almost certainly notice lower recoil while you’re firing this ammo, but that doesn’t come at the expense of stopping power. The 130 grain SCHP hits a close-range target with over 400 ft lbs of energy. (For context, the recommended minimum impact energy for self-defense is 220 to 300 ft lbs.)

Copper is ductile and malleable, so the SCHP consistently retains practically all of its weight while piercing thick fabric and dense muscle tissue. It penetrates to a consistently effective depth because of this. And as the SCHP’s broad nose cavity becomes pressurized, it forces the bullet to rapidly produce multiple rectangular petals that greatly increase its overall diameter.

Sellier & Bellot loads XRG Defense ammo in the Czech Republic with high-quality reloadable brass cases and non-corrosive primers. Load this ammo in your PCC and take it varmint hunting as well!
