This shell’s #8 shot pellets are made of pure steel, which is nontoxic and can’t land you in hot water if you fire it in jurisdictions that have banned lead shot. Steel shot is much harder than lead, and accordingly can’t deform under the pressure of ignition. A tight and consistent pattern for you!
Steel isn’t as dense as lead, but Winchester compensates for that fact by amplifying this target load’s muzzle velocity to 1,450 fps. The lighter 1 oz. shot column and hinged AA wad both do their parts to mitigate felt recoil that could have resulted from such a fast muzzle velocity. The AA wad also features a full-length shot cup that prevents hard steel shot from etching the surface of your bore. This shell’s steel shot is accelerated by clean combustion of Winchester’s best-in-class primer and powder.
