This shell is loaded with a lightweight 5/8 ounce column of #7 steel shot. Steel is completely nontoxic, so you’re doing no harm to friendly neighborhood critters whenever you fire one of these rounds (unless you are firing directly at one of those critters, of course). Steel is also far more rigid than lead, which eliminates the risk of shot deformation that can weaken pattern density. And because this is Winchester’s own Xpert steel, the shot pellets are highly resistant to corrosion which could have made them coarser and less aerodynamic.
This handy shell’s wad prevents its abrasive steel shot from harming your barrel, and its small compression zone mitigates felt recoil upon ignition. This ammo’s shot may be special, but its reloadable hulls, clean-burning powder and noncorrosive primers all have the great quality you should expect from one of America’s preeminent ammo manufacturers.
