“Let’s make a line of ammunition specifically for deer hunting!” Federal Premium is the first American ammo company to have that idea. It led to the introduction of Fusion: bonded soft point ammo that rules over hoofed beasts. This is 30-06 Springfield ammunition, suitable for everything except for M1 Garands. Its 150 grain bullet is not coincidentally a good weight for deer hunting.
What’s special about the bonded soft point bullet is its molecularly fused jacket. The jacket’s application process made it extra uniform in thickness, which is understood to enhance accuracy. More importantly, its fused jacket makes the bullet considerably tougher than a traditional soft point. That helps keep the bullet in one larger piece after slamming into its target, and promotes deadlier penetration as a result. The Fusion bullet’s soft point and skived jacket are designed to codeliver terminal expansion at a minimum velocity of 1,900 fps. The 0.410 G1 BC bullet should reliably conserve that much velocity until around 480 yards, at which distance it packs ~1,200 ft lbs of energy.
This is one of Federal’s premium Minnesota-made ammo lines. Its performance is predictable, and succeeded by empty yet reloadable brass cases.
