This is Federal’s Punch series ammunition – exclusively intended for personal protection. Its 45 grain projectile attains 1,000 fps muzzle velocity out of a compact pistol’s 2” barrel, at which rate it’ll hit a close-range target with less than 100 ft lbs of energy.
That’s not much striking energy, admittedly, but the Punch jacketed hollow point has a secret weapon: deep penetration. Despite what its appearance suggests, the nickel-plated JHP is actually designed to minimize terminal expansion. That way it can use its limited energy to punch a channel all the way to one of the threat’s vital organs – “lights out” switches, if you will.
Each round in this plastic box features a nickel-plated case to match its bullet. Smooth nickel facilitates smoother extraction from the chamber. It wards off corrosion as well!
