Is Montana the least wussified state in the country? Possibly. Montanans would probably say so, especially if they happened to work at HSM: one of America’s greatest family-owned ammo manufacturers, where these Cowboy Action 44 Special cartridges were born.
Don’t worry if you aren’t actually a cowboy, or the sort of dude who competes in cowboy action shooting. These premium target loads are optimal for any kind of recreational shooting you could choose your 44 Special – or 44 Magnum – revolver for, and it’s safe for lever actions, too!
This round’s bullet is a humble lead semi-wadcutter. It’s a very useful bullet for all sorts of target practice. Taking aim at paper? Then you’ll love how neatly the LSWC cuts a hole through the target. Firing on steel, or against a rocky backstop? Then the LSWC’s absence of brittle copper can help spare you the considerable discomfort of getting bombarded by shrapnel.
This ammo’s not totally historically accurate. Its noncorrosive primers and smokeless powder are both welcome anachronisms, though.
