Want to know why Speer designed this Lawman Reduced Hazard Training ammunition? It’s so lawmen (and lawladies) can train indoors with reduced hazard to their safety. The more you know.
But you don’t have to be a Boy (or Lady) in Blue if want to reduce the risk of splash-back and reduce your exposure to lead. Johnny Public can buy Speer Lawman RHT 9mm, too!
This round’s bullet is special. A frangible bullet is a solidified mass of copper and tin powder. It’s strong enough to feed and fire. It’s not strong enough to survive impact with steel or other hard surfaces, however. Under that circumstance, the frangible pulverizes itself back into powder. Compare that to an FMJ, which can toss snaggy shrapnel back at the firing line on impact, and it’s easy to see why the frangible is the close-range AR500 shooter’s choice.
The frangible is light without any lead to bog it down. It’ll come out of the barrel real hot, without simultaneous over-pressurization, and it won’t throw lead dust all about the place when it hits its mark.
