The ancients called it “orichalcum,” a metal second only to gold in value. We know it today as copper, a metal for superior hunting bullets.

This 5.56x45 is made by Black Hills and features a 50 grain TSX projectile. Because it is made entirely of copper, the TSX passes through a barrel while hardly fouling it, can’t contaminate meat or the earth it lands in, and is virtually incapable of fragmenting to lose momentum during penetration. If you’re going hunting where lead projectiles are banned, the TSX will place you on the right side of the law.

The TSX has pressure relieving grooves encompassing its shank, which serve to further reduce bore fouling and ultimately improve accuracy by increasing muzzle velocity. The TSX is also a hollow point bullet, and its terminal expansion is remarkable. As it mushrooms it extends four blade-like petals, enabling it to create a simply disastrous wound cavity.

Black Hills recruited another manufacturer to make this superlative hunting cartridge: Lake City, whose annealed brass shell casing seals the chamber perfectly and will serve repeatedly at the reloading bench. This round fires even cleaner thanks to its non-corrosive primer and modern propellant, and its 3,275 fps muzzle velocity will give you a trajectory as flat as a topographical map of Nebraska.
