500 Rounds of 9mm Ammo by Federal *NON-DUTY* HST - 147gr JHP

This ammunition is not intended for law enforcement officers to carry on duty. Federal Premium deemed it unfit for duty because it did not meet their own strict standards for quality.

We were not informed as to why this ammo did not meet Federal’s standards. We must defer to their expertise on the matter, however, and exclusively recommend it for training and target shooting.

If your preferred ammunition for everyday carry is Federal Tactical HST or Federal Personal Defense HST 9mm 147 grain jacketed hollow point (same ammo; different packaging only), then you couldn’t pick better range ammo than this. It wasn’t loaded to mimic that ammo’s performance. It is that ammo, complete with high-tech, “barrier-blind” HST bullets.

HST ammunition typically features nickel-plated brass cases. This non-duty range ammunition is loaded with Federal’s standard, unplated shells. Visual inspection does not reveal any other difference between this and the normal ammo. The cartridges we tested appeared to perform exactly as the normal ammo, although we did not subject them to the FBI test protocol nor measure their terminal ballistics in any manner.
