This round’s 62 grain bullet looks just like any other FMJ on the outside, but with one exception: Its tip is painted green. That’s the sign that its lead core contains a seven-grain steel penetrator tip, which enables the bullet to reliably pierce sheet metal and other durable barriers at close-to-medium range. The penetrator bullet may even twist sideways as it penetrates soft tissue, in which event it breaks in two to deliver double the wound channels.
This is magnetic ammo! Many ranges won’t let you bring it on their premises, as a bullet which contains steel poses a higher risk of damaging range equipment. The heavier 62 grain bullet is most accurate when fired from a 1:9” or 1:8” twist barrel, but if your AR-15’s barrel has a 1:7” twist then you’ll still enjoy firing this ammo.
This American-made ammo is loaded with new production brass cases. You can see where they were heat-treated at the factory, because Winchester didn’t spend time polishing the cases afterward. This Boxer-primed ammo is great for handloading too!
