A: Hi Doug, great question. These are copper plated but with a black coating on them, as well. If you'll look closely on the pictures, you can see some of the natural copper color showing through. Winchester advertises them as "black copper plated." I'm not sure what that coating is, but it is probably used to increase the lubricity of the bullet and aid in feeding.
