The marketing on the package touts this as a very good load for dispatching alligators at the side of a boat in the deep country. But the .22WMR caliber delivers much more than that. The capabilities of this bulk round (this is a 250 round case lot of the .22WMR) are far beyond that use case, and while it is well suited to that task, it can also be used as a target load and a plinking round. The price point ensures this possibility.
This is a 40-grain jacketed hollow point in the CCI Maxi-Mag brand line, that gives it instant credibility. This very load has been a stalwart inclusion in the CCI product portfolio for many years and has always been a substantial performer. The static ballistics makes it perfect for small game that have tougher hides, or which need more substantial distance or energy delivery on target. This load offers 1875 feet per second velocity and 312 ft. lbs. of energy out of the bore. More than enough for traditional .22WMR targets.
This is a non-reloadable cartridge. The 250 round case represents an excellent value for a capable cartridge that has been a proven winner for decades.
