Fans of the .223 Remington cartridge can easily adapt their favorite rifle to varmint patrol duty with these highly effective rounds from Winchester. These loads utilize 55 grain weight projectiles that will stabilize from any nearly barrel length on the market and even maintain terminal performance with some SBR lengths. That makes this hunting ammunition appropriate for use in any AR-15, Mini-14, and SCAR-16s chambered for 223 Rem or 5.56mm NATO. The projectile utilized is a jacketed soft-point (JSP) design and includes an exposed lead tip that has been tapered for drag-resistant, aerodynamic performance.

The flat-based bullet is optimized for medium-range engagements with coyotes, groundhogs and any game animal similar in size to a javelina. During entry into a thin-skinned target, the projectile will undergo gradual expansion that halts it within a target after penetrating past protective hides and gristle. This prevents ineffectual pass-through shots and instead facilitates proper momentum transfer to vital organs or arteries in a devastating manner that yields humane kills. The 55 grain bullet matches the vast majority of practice ammunition in this caliber for minimal POA and POI shift when checking pre-season zeroes. Winchester's ammunition designs are supported by over a century and a half of successful, globe-trotting caliber designs.
