Details
You get what you pay for when you’re buying Federal Premium .308 ammo loaded with a 168 grain Sierra Match King projectile. This stuff shoots excellent groups. It’s amazing what a top tier load can do in even moderately built firearms. You won’t believe how accurate you can be with specialized equipment.
Easily capable of sub MOA in a ridiculously large amount of rifles, this is truly premium stuff. It offers clean powder, a medium bullet grain weight and attention to detail like you wouldn’t believe. A top tier load if ever there was one that was equally at home in a semi auto as it is in a finely tuned bolt gun.
The premium bullet is a boat tail hollow point bullet by Sierra; and it gets moving at 2650 out of the bore and 2620 ft. lbs. of energy make this as deadly as it is shiny. Big game everywhere out to 250+ yards are at risk.
All in, this classic pairing between quality components is a value, because your shots always go bang, and they are always on target.

Detailed Analysis:
What Shooters Praise (The Pros)
Reviewers consistently report flawless reliability, with no misfires or failures-to-fire mentioned across several hundred rounds and a variety of rifles. Users note unwavering performance even at extended distances.
Performance is widely described as outstanding, with multiple shooters achieving sub-MOA groups (often in the 0.5–0.75 MOA range) at 100–200 yards, and tight, stable trajectories out to 500 yards or more. Several users compare results favorably to handloads and consider it their top commercial choice for precision.
While the ammunition is recognized as expensive, customers generally feel the price is justified given the superior outcomes. However, increased shipping costs are noted as a minor drawback that affects overall value.
What to Know (The Nuances)
• Some mention the ammunition is best reserved for longer distances (over 400 yards) or when maximum precision is required; for closer ranges, less expensive options may suffice.
• Cleanliness is not a commonly discussed concern in the reviews, and no issues around residue or fouling are mentioned.
• Casing material is not directly referenced in these reviews, so no specific notes on reloadability are provided.
• The ammunition is specifically lauded for its consistency and attention to quality control, making it a strong choice for demanding applications like law enforcement, sniping, or competitive shooting.
• Bulk purchase benefits and shipping speed are positively highlighted, though shipping costs can diminish perceived savings.
Conclusion
This ammunition stands out as an industry benchmark for shooters seeking precision, consistency, and reliability at longer distances. It is best suited for those prioritizing tight groupings in target or match shooting, as well as professionals who refuse to compromise on accuracy. The primary tradeoff is its higher cost, but most buyers agree the investment is well worth it for serious applications where performance matters most.

Well, great service from the guys at Bulk Ammo for one, and a good sale price, for two. For three, I got the ammo the next day. Of course , it helps to only live 70 miles from the warehouse, but still, that's speed.
The only negative - hence the 4 stars for performance, is it's not fast enough to register on electronic targets at 1000 yards at my range. But it shoots lights out at 600 yards. Could not be happier with a factory load. (Posted on 9/9/2025)

Then I got 60 rounds of this stuff for my new DPMS GII SASS. I started out with some cheap bulk 147 grain ammo just to get on paper. I cleaned the barrel after every three shots, walked all the way out to 100 yards, came back, snaked the barrel a second time, then shot. I thought I was doing well with the cheap stuff - I was grouping within 2.5 inches, which is about as good as I've ever done with the cheap bulk stuff.
Then I switched over to the Federal Sierra Match King 168gr HPBT and shot three. I was high and to the left, which really surprised me, but the grouping was amazing. I put all three rounds within an inch and a quarter! I cleaned the barrel, adjusted the scope, let the barrel cool while I walked, came back and shot three more. Again, I was able to get all three rounds within an inch and a quarter.
Blinding flash of the obvious: good ammo makes a big difference. This stuff is head and shoulders above what I used to shoot, and now I need to stop letting myself be sloppy. I want to get my groups down to 1" at 100 and work out to 500. I'm excited to do this over the upcoming summer! I am using the Nikon
M-308 4-16x42 BDC 800, which is a really amazing scope. I really like it a lot, and it is calibrated for this round. (Posted on 3/10/2014)
