HST is the newest iteration of Federal’s renowned personal
defense product line. Designed for police use, HST rounds use a deep hollow
point to promote six-petal expansion to more than double the bullet’s original
diameter. In the big .45 ACP round, that’s almost a full inch!
This standard-pressure load will work great in any .45 ACP firearm that can handle hollow-points. The heavy 230-grain bullet leaves the muzzle at 890 feet per second and imparts up to 404 foot-pounds of energy.

Bought a few years ago. Put many rounds down range, no issues. However was able to locate a few slugs through the wood target stuck in 2x4 framing, very little expansion. Have other self defense ammo that cost more but expansion was markedly better. Got when ammo was much cheaper, seems to be one of the only current options. Some bullets, better than no bullets. I purchased 100 rounds this ammo and my Para Ordinance handled it very well. I didn't have one misfire out of the 60 or so I have shot. I also received my order within about 4 days after I put the order in. I most definitely recommend Bulk Ammo and give them 5 stars out of 5. There is nothing negative I can say about this ammo. It shoots clean, it's accurate, and has less of a kick then most .45 ammo. I would recommend buying this ammo for home defense or personal carry above all other brands. It performs every single time and has no flaws. (Posted on 3/28/2013)

I was tempted to rate this ammo badly so you wouldn't buy it so I could, haha, but no this JHP can expand to over an inch on the largest petals under the right circumstances and packs a serious punch. Great for carry, It's always the one in the throat when I leave the house (Posted on 3/27/2013)
