It starts with a nickel plated brass case to improve the lubricity of the metal to metal contact in the chamber, magazine and breech areas. The Boxer primer means it is easily reloadable, and the Boxer primer has many decades of ignition reliability for the most part. The low-flash powder offers complete burn for maximum power and energy/velocity delivery.
The 230 grain hollow point projectile is a lead based jacketed hollow point that features the recognizable scalloped edge design that was carried over from the famous Black Talon line by Winchester which was one of the most talked about gun industry product stories in history. The proven design offers great uniformity in expansion and the reliable feeding which, particularly in .45ACP can be a problem.
Very good penetration for the bullet (some have shown testing of more than 14 inches in 10% gelatin) as well as very consistent static ballistics and velocity, makes this an excellent round that wh8ile being exceptional in stopping a threat, is also accurate beyond what most competitor rounds are doing.
