Details

From LCAAP (Lake City Army Ammunition Plant) this is a loose 1000 round case of 5.56x45mm ammo. The NATO specifications for the 5.56x45mm require the cartridge to handle significantly higher pressures than its sister cartridge the .223 Remington, therefore you should only use this ammunition in a rifle specifically chambered for 5.56x45mm.

M193 cartridges are loaded with a 55gr Full Metal Jacket Boat-tail projectile, while the M855 cartridge is a 62gr Steel Penetrator which weighs 62gr. This Lake City M193 ammo is available in this 1000 round pack from Federal Ammunition and is some of the top range ammo made in the USA for the 5.56x45mm platform.

A: This ammo is made by the single largest producer of small arms ammunition for the United States Armed Forces. In a nutshell, if you join the Army, this is the ammo you use to train with your M4. It's nothing fancy, naturally, but Lake City's ammo is highly consistent, reliable, and trusted by countless shooters for target shooting and range training. I believe you will be satisfied with it!

A: Hello Cody! Our apologies, but we cannot ship to an island in Michigan without violating HazMat restrictions. I recommend you contact our customer service team at (800) 720-6035 or CustomerService@BulkAmmo.com for a possible workaround to that shipping restriction. We hope we may serve you!

A: Thanks for reaching out, Shelley! We believe that the Ruger Mini-14 is available chambered for 223 Rem, 5.56x45mm, 300 AAC Blackout, or 7.62x39mm. This ammunition will only work in your Mini-14 if it is chambered for 5.56x45mm, so please check your firearm before ordering this ammo.

A: This ammo is all first run factory ammo. It is not a reloaded product, but the case is re-loadable. The discoloration around the neck is a product of the annealing process. This is a heat treating process done during the manufacturing process to allow the case to flex without cracking. Most of your commercial cratridges undergo this process, but most have the discoloration buffed or polished to a shiny finish for aesthetics.

A: Hi Scott, Boat tail is an alternate projectile shape. It is meant to increase accuracy at greater distances. The ammunition is used in 5.56x45 firearms Always Check your owner's manual for any ammunition exclusions for your specific firearms before use.

A: 5.56x45 ammunition featuring an M193 bullet will pass the magnet test. While some products are shown with XM193, this is essentially the same bullet. The "X" indicates that the ammo will be directed towards the civilan market. You will still receive the same quality ammunition made for the military. (If you are target shooting in an indoor range, you will want to avoid the M855 bullets as they will fail the magnet test. These are good for any other application including outdoor target shooting!)

A: Your Mini-14 most likely has a .223 Rem chamber, and it is not recommended to fire 5.56 ammo through a rifle with a .223 chamber.

Posted On: 10/6/2011 By: Jason

A: No, it is not safe or recommended to fire 5.56mm ammunition in a rifle marked .223 Rem .

A: Federal's XM193 ammunition is made to military specifications and features a muzzle velocity of 3240 FPS. At 78 feet from the muzzle out of a 20" test barrel the XM193 projectile has a velocity of 3165 FPS.
