These rounds from Federal are manufactured to the M855 standard, which has been in use with the United States military for decades. As such, each round fires a 62-grain full metal jacket projectile with a boat-tail rear (FMJBT) and mild penetrating tip; the steel tip is colored green for easy identification.

The FMJBT's tapered rear gives it slick drag resistance, while its toothed cannelure locks the bullet into its crimp in order to preserve accuracy.
