The .500 Smith and Wesson Magnum was developed in 2003 for the S&W X-Frame Revolver during a combined effort between Smith and Wesson and Cor-Bon. Cor-bon designed the round to be the most powerful production handgun round in existence. Along with Cor-bon working on the round, the S&W team designed and built the massive X-Frame revolver to house and fire the massive .500 S&W Magnum load. Since then, the popularity of the .500 S&W Magnum has continued to grow and remains one of the largest production handgun rounds on the market.

This Hornady Custom .500 Smith and Wesson Magnum ammunition is topped with a heavy duty 300 grain, lead core, copper jacketed, red polymer tipped FTX (Flex Tip Technology) bullet. The Hornady 300 grain FTX bullets also have a serrated cannelure ring that helps to secure the bullet into the case mouth when the crimping is done at the factory. These big bullets are factory loaded into reloadable, heavy duty, thick wall, Non-corrosive Boxer Primed, polished brass cases. They have a muzzle velocity of 2075-feet per second and the muzzle energy of these .500 Smith and Wesson rounds is 2868-foot pounds. These loads are some of the strongest handgun rounds on the market and they have the muzzle velocity and energy figures to prove it.

This 500 SW ammo comes packed in 20 round boxes, with the Hornady Custom classic look they are so well known for. Get a couple boxes today so you can take out your family and impress them with the powerful .500 Smith and Wesson Magnum.
