We call them “Iggies” – 5.56x45mm M855 target cartridges that we can never get enough of in stock! If you want superior ballistic performance over M193 for target shooting – and are planning to stick it to targets at a range which allows magnetic ammo – then you’ll love everything inside of this factory-fresh military-spec steel M2A1 can!
The M855 projectile is heavier than the 55 grain standard for M193, so it’s helped along through cross and vertical winds by added momentum. But its relatively higher downrange energy isn’t the real reason why the M855 bullet is dubbed “penetrator.” Just beneath its copper-alloy jacket’s painted tip rests a pointed steel insert. This hardens the projectile to facilitate its passage through barriers, e.g. light body armor and vehicles.
Allow us to reiterate: You can only fire this ammo at gun ranges that allow it. That doesn’t include every gun range.
Igman loads this tidy bundle in Bosnia and Herzegovina (which is assuredly one country) using new brass cases of their own creation, as well as Boxer primers which can’t produce corrosive residue.
