STOP! Consider the following: this ammo isn’t loaded with ordinary full metal jacket projectiles. Each 62 grain FMJ wears green paint on the tip of its copper jacket to indicate that the frontal portion of its core is made of steel. And what does steel do, folks? That’s right! It attracts a magnet.

An M855 “penetrator” bullet doesn’t just attract magnets, though. It supplies great accuracy, especially in light of its heavier weight that conserves greater momentum downrange. It pierces sheet metal with relative ease at close or medium range. It quite likely splits into two pieces upon striking flesh. It also dents steel targets, so keep it away from your AR500 gongs.

This ammo’s cases are new – not reloaded. Their grayish shoulders simply indicate that they were heat treated at the factory, just as they ought to have been.
