What sticks out about this round is its big, meaty 200 grain bullet. Its increased inertia means it’s going to exit a rifle’s barrel at 1,000 fps – far less than supersonic speed, which is around 1,125 fps. A 7.62x51 is still going to make some noise, quite naturally, but without a supersonic burst it’s a lot less intrusive. Works even better if you’ve got a suppressor on your side!
This round’s bullet is an uncomplicated FMJ, clean shooting and balanced without the frills that permit terminal expansion. Its brass case is brand new, and if you notice the discoloration around its neck you’re only seeing where it has been heat-treated. This round’s primer is sealed with a little cyan-colored sealant to keep it fresh, and as a Boxer it makes handloading straightforward enough.
