Details
This ammunition is essentially identical to the 30-06 you would have been issued in the U.S. Army if you had also been issued an M1 Garand. The only key difference is its primers: noncorrosive instead of corrosive, so you won’t have to worry about your rifle turning into a corroded mess if you don’t clean it a certain way.
Every M1 Garand caretaker should already know this: You mustn’t fire modern, commercially loaded ammunition in the thing. To do so would be to put the antique’s sensitive operating rod in peril.
That begs the question: Can you fire this special Garand-safe ammo in any other 30-06 rifle? The answer is most assuredly “Yes.” This ammo is loaded a little weaker than normal by contemporary standards, meaning a modern 30-06 rifle is designed to handle ammo significantly more powerful than it.
This round’s bullet is a 150 grain full metal jacket, just like M2 ball specifications require. It’s a good bullet, albeit one without any qualities that would suit it well for hunting. It won’t widen out after impact. It’s nestled in virgin brass case – reloadable, of course, and made in the USA just like every other component in this ten-box case of ammo.
