But then one day something incredible happened to me. I became smart. I am now a big, smart oaf, and the first thing I did with my newfound intelligence is appreciate just how nice Hornady BLACK 308 Winchester ammo is.
Hornady previously loaded this ammunition with the A-MAX bullet. They (mostly) discontinued the A-MAX in 2024, but not before selecting a proper replacement for it: the Extremely Low Drag Match, which features their high-tech Heat Shield polymer tip. True to its name, it is nigh-impervious to the deformational effect of aerodynamic heating, which enables it to keep its drag-equalizing, dispersion-reducing flat DVRT meplat undamaged while airborne. It promotes better accuracy and tighter groups!
So too does the ELD Match’s AMP jacket, swaged lead core, streamlined secant ogive, and optimum boat tail design. WIth so many allies, the 168 grain .30 cal ELD Match is balanced and sleek to a degree that earns it a 0.263 G7 ballistic coefficient. If 1.5” sight height, 24” barrel, and 200 yard zero, ∴ -47.0” drop at 500.
