The AK-pattern rifle has enjoyed a very stable level of sustainability in the U.S. market for quite some time now. It is not a resurgence because it never went away, but nothing has seemed to catapult AK rifles over AR-pattern rifles. The cartridge ubiquitous with all things AK, the 7.62X39mm, has continued to grow steadily due to a large contingency of AR-pattern rifles being produced in the caliber, with some manufacturers going so far as to make custom hybrid lower which accept AK magazines. Cool.

So why go with the infamous AK round over the very popular newcomer .300 AAC, for instance? The ballistics are not terribly far apart, and the .300 AAC uses standard AR mags and BCG. Two reasons: cost and commonality.

The 7.62X39mm in standard 122 grain FMJ is about as inexpensive as it gets for a high power rifle cartridge. Furthermore, it is an extremely cost effective .30 caliber cartridge. And there is not a nation state, nomadic region, or grass-thatched hutted village in the world that doesn’t have some 7.62X39mm laying around.

No matter which pattern rifle you are feeding (preferably both!), Wolf steel cased FMJ is an excellent commodity to have in bulk. Let’s face the facts: Kalashnikov made this rifle very intentionally to feed on bulk ammo in horrible conditions, and it does. In all reality, were life to go full-SHTF, ammunition is the currency of choice so buy up now.

The 122 grain FMJ slug is ideally suited for keeping sharp at the range, but with over 1,500 ft. lbs. of energy at the muzzle, and over 1,100 at 100 yards, it carries plenty of umph for use on predators (regardless of how many legs) and could certainly take whitetail in the brush if you need to eat. Not ideal for either, but considering the number of wars and conflicts that 122 grain FMJ has appeared in, I imagine those on the receiving end would argue that conclusion.

A: Thanks for reaching out Harold! If you order this case of 7.62x39 ammo to 24012 via FedEx, shipping would cost approximately $22.00. I estimate tax at approximately $24.00.

A: Yes sir, the Mini Thirty is chambered for 7.62x39. This ammo ought to serve you well – it's all I buy for my AK-47. Just make sure you never order 7.62x51 by accident and you ought to be all set!

A: Thanks for reaching out! We currently have two options for 30-06 in stock: bulkammo.com/rifle/bulk-30-06-springfield-ammo

The Sellier & Bellot has a muzzle velocity of 2,700 fps. The Remington has a muzzle velocity of 2,910 fps, so it will give you the faster performance you're looking for. A PSP bullet's ballistically efficient profile is also very accurate.

A: Hi Ryan! I'm afraid 7.62x39 won't work in your rifle. This ammo is almost exclusively used for AK-47 and SKS rifles. Your Marlin 30-30 is only compatible with 30-30 Win ammunition (which is usually shortened to just "30-30"). We haven't got any in stock at the moment, but once the ammo drought clears up you'll find plenty of economical 30-30 FMJ ammo available on the market. I hope you check back in with us again soon!

A: Glad you checked! This is 7.62x39, which is AK-47 ammo. But you want 7.62x51 for an M1A! We've got three options in stock for you: bulkammo.com/rifle/bulk-.308-win-ammo The PMC and Magtech rounds are both great for target shooting. The Black Hills ammo is 308 Win. Its physical dimensions are virtually identical to a 7.62x51, and it's loaded to a slightly greater pressure. SAAMI does not consider it unsafe to fire 308 in a rifle chambered for 7.62x51, so if you're looking for specialized hunting/self-defense ammo the Black Hills is another great option for you.

A: No sir, 7.62x39 ammo is different from 7.62x51/308 Win. The ammo on this page is strictly for AK-47 and SKS rifles. You're safe if you order any of the ammo on this page: bulkammo.com/rifle/bulk-.308-win-ammo

An approved FFL Vendor will receive your ammo shipment and then you will pick up your shipment from them. Most vendors require a transfer fee, but each vendor sets their own price. A: This Wolf 7.62x39 ammo is normally shipped in the factory carton when ordered by the 1,000 round unit. We do offer a service for less than $1, to cover the cost of the box, to ship this ammo inside of a plain box that excludes these markings. A small ORMD stamp will be on the side of the carton as required by law. This option may be selected during the checkout process while you choosing between FedEx or UPS as well as other upgrades including package insurance and a signature requirement upon delivery.
