Details

The "Special Operations Cartridge" or "Dive" variant of Speer Gold Dot ammunition exhibits the same effective terminal ballistics for which the brand is known along with an increased resistance to water submersion; this is achieved by using a sealed primer pocket and case mouth which allows the round to survive in the water for up to 90 minutes without adverse effects. The 124-grain 9x19mm bullet uses the same lead core and electrochemically bonded jacket for which Gold Dots are known. The bonded jacket, integrated mouth skiving, and deep hollow cavity all help to produce wide expansion in a target with minimal loss in momentum for appropriate penetration depth.

This results in great performance for self-defense with excellent energy transfer to vital areas and reduced change for over penetration to occur. The 124 grain weight offers a balance between felt recoil and flat flight trajectory. Each 9mm Luger bullet is crimped into a reloadable brass casing that is equipped with a non-caustic Boxer primer. Gold Dot loads are powered by a carefully measured amount of propellant that has been engineered to exhibit as little flash as possible; this helps to preserve a shooter's night vision for faster follow-up shots in dimly lit conditions.
