A super premium 9x19 round that attempts to bring together the best of both worlds: lower recoil and better performance. The unique shape of the copper jacketed bullet makes it a reliably feeding round with 6 petals very similar to the original black talon engineering. The price point makes this firmly a premium personal defense round, despite Winchester’s sub tagline on the box “Train & Defend”.
The practice to train with and use the same ammunition in personal defense preparation is a solid strategy, so you are used to the recoil, the point of impact and the way your firearm behaves with said ammunition. This is less practical with the price point of the line, but the concept is very good. Instead of having 150 different loads across the brand in pistol calibers and grain weights, Winchester is trying to streamline the matching process between your practice ammo and your tactical ammo.
950 feet per second of muzzle velocity and 295 ft. lbs. of energy with a lesser recoil profile makes this a very good standard 9mm Luger load. The 147 grain jacketed hollow point offers good mass for the 9mm Luger, and the typical peppy recoil from this payload will be reduced due to the engineered design and the powder charge.
