DANGEROUSLY UNRELIABLE ammo. Bought a thousand rounds thinking i had found cheap range ammo to put through my 1911, it was cheap alright. every box had rounds that felt weak and more than several rounds failed to leave the barrel. I still have 500 rounds of this garbage, don't know if i got a bad batch or if tula's quality (or lack there of) control is that bad. the 1911 had no issues with other brands of ammo so i don't think its the gun. this finished me for russian ammo. This is excellent practice ammo, particularly when I am practicing defensive maneuvers and don't want to worry about collecting my brass. I love using it and it is quite accurate. For my pistol this ammo functions flawlessly though that is not true of others I know. My son's pistol will not reliably feed Tula 45 ACP ammo so I recommend testing it in your own pistol before committing to bulk purchases you may be unhappy with. In terms of obtaining thousands of rounds for a cost effective price this is the best option. This will save you literally thousands of dollars buying this in bulk before you go to the range especially if you go a lot. However don't stock up on this thinking you're saving a lot of money for the apocalypse or especially don't use this as your self defense ammo. I've gone through half of my 500 rounds of .45 ACP ammo by Tula and thus far have not had a single jam. The ammo burns a bit dirty, so clean your weapon very soon after you leave the range. I was shooting the FNX 45 Tactical. My friends and I sent almost 900 rounds down range one afternoon. Only 3 misfires. However, I am a beginner and didn't realize that some indoor ranges won't let you fire these. Due to sparking from the bullet hitting something. Which could ignite residual power in the air. The reviews I've read claiming that this ammunition causes stovepipe and other misfires with the shooters handgun is more an issue with the gun being used then with the ammunition. I have cycled hundred for rounds in my Springfield XDM with an average 5 shot group of 1 inch out to 15 yards, and 1.75 inches at 30 yards. I did not experience any misfire, stove pipe, or other malfunction. The ammunition does produce a noticeable large amount of smoke, however, reliability and accuracy were dead on. Those reporting trouble with their weapon feeding the ammunition, should consider having their gun worked on by a qualified gunsmith; and certainly should not use that weapon or any weapon which will not reliably Feed any round as a personal defense weapon. I will continue to use this as range ammo for all my .45's (Posted on 7/19/2016)

Another order for 1000 rounds of this stuff. I have 2000 rounds of Tula out of my guns and I yet to have one single issue. Not once have I had a FTF, FTE, Stovepipe, or anything happen. I would say that even that had me shocked. I shoot hungry guns and sure you may have a gun that is ammo sensitive, so out of the M&P, EAA, CZ lines you will be fine for sure. I clean my guns after every visit to the range and they are not bad with cleaning. The smoke and sparks that you hear of do exist, but big deal your shooting very budget ammo. The real question many ask is this an ok ammo if you wanted to carry it as a daily driver and shockingly yes. Sure I can buy some high cost HP's and yes I have them. However I would stake my life on this ammo and thats because it goes bang every single time i pull that trigger. My groups are not competition tight, but who cares. This is a must buy... The price is not that much less than brass ammo that you can recycle. I shot the poorest groups with this ammo and spent days trying to remove copper fouling from my barrel. Bought this ammo for the cheap price and the previous reviews were solid. Shot about 300 rounds of this so far and only had one malfunction. I shoot the Sig P220 and I have an issue loading the rounds into my magazines (I can only get about 5 or 6 loaded). Not sure what the issue is because it loaded into a Glock mag w/o issue. Fired 250 rounds of this to break in my new cw45. After about 150 rounds the front of the gun was black. Around 190 rounds the gun slide froze up from the carbon build up. I sprayed some more frog lube on slide and did a light cleaning. I did not have any FTF or FTI , so its decent ammo. Just remember you will have to do a good cleaning after 100 or so rounds. This ammo runs well, & had 0 F2F Or Fire, 700 Rds Through a Springfield TRP. Can't beat the price, in my shooting time W/ This ammo, It's no dirtier than the Winchester 250 Rd. Box,, & if you want your cleaning made easier, try the Frog Lube, Liquid. You should read the instructions, however this stuff needs to be applied to a hot weapon. Warm it up in the oven, and don't get it so hot you melt anything, you don't want melted or you can apply right after you take a break F/ Shooting,, as the weapon is hot, this stuff soaks into the metals.. I have a G21 as noted above and a Hi-Point 4595 carbine. The first round I loaded in the Glock stopped half way in the chamber. First time I've ever seen my G21 fail to load properly. I shot the 13 rounds I had loaded in the mag without further problems. It seemed to be as accurate as the Blazer ammo I normally shoot, so no problems there. It may be nothing, but the finish on the casing just seems to not work for my G21. Good thing the Hi-Point loves eating this stuff, and every trip to the range I go through 100 to 150 rounds with it. I just went to the range today and shot 150 rounds. My gun only jammed once.. I have shot many different types of ammo before which has caused my gun to jam several times. Was previously running American Eagle, now running this due to much cheaper price. Heard that steel cased Russian ammo runs dirty, but other than the powder smell, this stuff runs CLEANER. Pleasantly surprised, will not be afraid to run any steel cased ammo in the future. (Posted on 6/18/2012)

Ran about 400 rounds through my G30sf. No problems with the gun whatsoever, but it's a Glock, so they are not picky. Accuracy was about average. What I did notice was the smoke and sparking from the ammo. When I say sparking I mean both from firing AND from the rounds hitting the metal backstops at the indoor range I shoot at. This makes me wonder if this is, in fact, a metal cored round? On the plus side - it's CHEAP! With .45 rounds getting so expensive, it's nice to see something reasonable out there.
Bottom line: This is good enough for now, but I will probably experiment with other rounds later on, even though I know they will be more expensive. (Posted on 6/12/2012)

Of the 300 rounds I have shot only two failed to fire. That being said due to the steel casings the ammo is verrry dirty. Be prepared to clean your gun often. (Posted on 3/22/2012)

My grandson and I fired 400 rounds about 2 weeks ago and this was great ammo. No misfires, good groupings and a great value. I’ll be a long time customer. The steel case is a little harder to load than brass but this is a very small criticism. (Posted on 3/20/2012)

Went through 150 rounds the other day in my Remington 1911 R1. Awesome. No misfires and very accurate. Didn't appear to leave much residue either (I fired some other brand at the same time which is a little dirty so hard to tell with the cross-contanimation).
Definitely a good deal: about $.30/cartridge. I couldn't find that price anywhere else on the net and definitely not at my dealer. (Posted on 3/13/2012)

I have shot over 2000 rounds through my Kimber Custom II 1911 and my Rock Island Armory tactical 1911. I have zero misfires with the ammo. It shoots great and just as accurate as other brands. I recommend this to anyone who wants cheap target ammo. (Posted on 2/7/2012)

I've got two .45s A Springfield 1911 A1 and a Colt Night Defender. Had two stovepipes and 1 ftf with the Springfield. The Colt ate every round with out a hiccup.

and the only problem I had was one miss feed. the box showed up one day late and damaged. delivery was delayed, the carrier had to tape the box and relable the package in order to deliver. otherwise as promised. I would continue to buy and shoot this ammo from BulkAmmo.com. held solid groups at 30 yrds. 3 star bargain, cause things could always be cheaper. (Posted on 1/18/2012)

i ran 100 rounds of this stuff threw my 1911 kimber and it was great i think its cleaner than rem sure shot i bought at acedemy the only thing is tat 4 or 5 rounds where about 10 in off center at 25 yards but for the price at the range i did mind a few stray rounds (Posted on 1/8/2012)

The ammo reliability was poor at best with lots of stove pipes and several failures to extract due to poor laquer coating, it would heat up and stick like glue.

being a skeptic i inspected each of 500 rounds. found one that had a tiny nick in it. i keep that one in my pocket. i read that this ammo was dirtier than others. i don't agree with that. it is all steel and some ranges may not allow it. this is good ammo and i will continue to use it. I haven't shot any of the ammo yet but upon close inspection of a 50round box I noticed the case rims don't seem to be as evenly cut as brass but maybe that is just inherent in the material being steel instead of brass. Will provide an actual review of the ammo once I have used it. (Posted on 2/27/2011)

A: Thanks for reaching out J! This round's bullet does not have a steel core. Pretty much the only steel core bullet commonly available on the market is the 5.56x45 M855, which only has a partial steel core. If a bullet has a bimetal jacket, that means it has a lead core with a steel jacket that is coated in a very thin layer of copper. I'm not familiar with all ranges' ammo policies, but generally the ones that ban magnetic ammo will also ban bimetal jackets because the steel they contain poses a higher chance of ricocheting, sparking, and damaging range equipment.

A: This Tula 45 ACP ammo has a bimetal jacket, which is composed of copper and steel. The jacket is soft enough that it will not damage the rifling of your barrel. The case is made of steel, but this steel is mild, and, like the bimetal jacket, will not cause excessive wear in your pistol. You might find that this ammo does cause additional fouling in the chamber of your pistol because of how steel acts during firing - brass expands to seal against the walls of the chamber, while the steel does not do so as effectively - but this does not take much more time to clean than any other ammo type. A good chamber brush should be on hand no matter what kind of ammo you shoot.

A: Steel cases are not reloadable and thus have much less intrinsic value. Many shooting ranges resell the brass that is left on the ground or placed in brass buckets, and steel cases would have to be sorted out from this brass. Thus, they do not allow steel cased ammunition on their range.

A: Some pistols function better with brass ammunition than with steel or aluminum cased ammunition. Generally, the fewest problems will be had with brass ammunition - but there are many firearms that will cycle steel and aluminum cased ammo without any problems. The only way to find out if your pistol is reliable with any particular ammunition is to shoot it in your weapon.
