Poongsan Corporation, a supplier of ammo to the South Korean military, leverages its excess capacity to bring PMC (Precision Made Cartridges) products to the US. The company has operated for over 50 years and uses in-house component manufacturing to keep quality consistent. PMC products enjoy a strong reputation for their availability, affordability, and reliability at shooting ranges across America.

Introduction:

PMC .45 ACP ammunition is a popular choice for range practice and training, appreciated by the majority of users for its reliability, affordability, and consistent performance across a wide variety of firearms. Customer sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, though a small number of reviews cite sporadic misfire and cleanliness issues.

Overall Rating:

(Generally Recommended)
Best For: Range Practice, High-Volume Training
Key Pro: Consistently Reliable Performance in Most Firearms
Key Nuance: Infrequent Reports of Misfires and Some Dirty Residue

Detailed Analysis:

What Shooters Praise (The Pros)

Reliability

The majority of reviewers report flawless cycling and firing, with several users having run thousands of rounds without any failures to feed, fire, or eject. However, infrequent complaints of misfires (rare dud rounds or higher failure rates in isolated batches) appear, particularly in the last set of reviews, but these remain outliers in largely trouble-free experiences.

Performance

Feedback highlights dependable feeding, accuracy sufficient for training, and compatibility with a broad range of 1911s, Glocks, Sigs, and Kimbers. Users consistently praise the ammo’s reliable operation in different pistols, although a few note slightly dirtier performance and smoky, sometimes sandy, residue after extended sessions.

Bargain

Price is a major selling point, with repeated emphasis on value for bulk purchase and frequent commentary that PMC is less expensive than competitors—especially for brass-cased ammo. Customers regularly state it’s among the best bargains available for its quality and reliability.

What to Know (The Nuances)

- Cleanliness: Opinions are slightly mixed; most users find residue manageable and cleanup easy, but some note powder residue, occasional sandy deposits, or unburned powder especially after high round counts.
- Casing Material: Brass-cased; reloaders can reuse these cases, which adds value for some buyers.
- Misfire/Failure Rates: Several users report near-zero failures after thousands of rounds, but isolated cases of occasional misfires, duds, or slow slide returns are present in a minority of reviews.
- Shipping and Service: Shipping speed and customer service from vendors receive consistently high marks.
- Not Match Grade: While accuracy is generally praised for practice, a few note it’s not intended for match or precision use.
- Bulk Value: Multiple reviewers buy in large quantities and view PMC as a top choice for stocking up.

Conclusion

PMC .45 ACP is a strongly recommended option for shooters seeking dependable, affordable practice ammunition. It offers reliable performance with most handguns, solid accuracy, and brass cases suitable for reloading. While rare misfires and mixed cleanliness reports exist, these are outweighed by the overwhelmingly positive experiences noted by most users. This ammo is best suited for those focused on range use and training who prioritize affordability and overall function.

A: This product is manufactured in South Korea by the same company that provides the South Korean military. What is also interesting is that the same company (a subsidiary of the parent company Poongsan Corporation) also provides some U.S. manufacturers with brass casings for their own production. PMC product is some of the best we offer (domestic or foreign) and it's usually at a slightly lower price point.
